Shama S. Ko

Shama Ko was born and raised on the island of Oahu in Hawai`i. In the late 1990's she moved to Los Angeles to attend Marymount College. During that time, she also worked as a freelance photographer in the Los Angeles area. In the early 2000's Shama relocated to Austin, TX and for the past ten years Shama Ko has consistently worked in Texas, New York, Honolulu and California. Her interest in photography began during her junior year of high school and has continued for close to fifteen years. Although Shama has had formal training as a photographer, she considers herself to be primarily self taught. She specializes in a wide variety of areas including portrait, wedding, commercial, photojournalism and event photography. As well as being a professional photographer, Shama is an accomplished Brazilian Jiu Jitsu athlete, placing 2nd in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Championships in her division in 2009.
